ATI drivers

I have two machines both with ATI video cards. One is an ATI Radeon 7200. the other is an old P200 with an early Rage card. Help me find drivers. I'm going to install Linux for the first time in about 2 years.

Best thing to do is check out the docs at XFree86.org.

Both of the card you mentioned are supported in XFree4.01 and up.

To elaborate on what macleondnine posted:

The old P1 200 almost undoubtadely has one of the ATI Mach 64 Rage onboards (they came in about 5 flavors)? They were standard on the last slew of intel P1 boards. The Xfree project is no longer chopped up into different servers per graphics board, and that one will almost definately work automagically to start with, although with a P1, unless you have beaucoup RAM, I recommend dodging the heftier distros. Slackware runs the newer X and installs slim.

In order to get full effect out of the 7200, you're going to have to make sure that all of the DRI goop works. RedHat 7.2 and Mandrake 8.1 did it all automagically. I could never get Slack to get it to work right, but I'm lazy.

Luck,

Finegan
