Internet (comcast) setup help for newbie ARRIS usb...urgent

I recently installed ubuntu 5.10 on my computer. I was wondering if someone would help me set up my internet.

my isp is comcast, and my modem is an Arris tm401b
that uses a usb to connect.

if any one could help me tonight, it would be most appriciated, because i need the internet to finish my friends website & my research paper.
it may take me a while to respond because my only shred of connection to my life (internet) is my wii, and it just takes long to type.

thanks in adv.

I've got Comcast/Arris too. I use the ethernet jack (not USB), and DHCP automatically sets

Subnet mask
Wan IP 24.61.47.X (yours will differ)
Default gateway
DNS Address
