apt via digest proxy

I am behind a squid proxy that uses digest authentication. Many programs do not seem to be able to authenticate against it ... like for example the apt / aptitude programs.

Am I doing something wrong? Is there a way to configure this - or can this functionality be added?

I tried with Debian / Woddy and am now posting from Ubuntu ... but the same issue. (I had the very same problem with the update program of Fedora Core)

Web browsers like firefox work fine when I configure the proxy settings.

Thank you in advance for looking into this.

Greetings,
HSukirman

You may need to add a line to /etc/apt/apt.conf, as follows
Code:
Acquire::http::Proxy "http://some.proxy:port";
and possibly add your username and password just before the proxyname, if it requires authentication.

Cheers,

mj
