apache not displaying any page

I have installed apache and mysql and php on mmy system. Both the services are up and running but when i browse to http://localhost I get blank page. even if i go to any file in subdirectories i get blank page. If i try to open index.php it gives me an option to save the file.
Can anyone please tell me what is the problem. Should I change something in httpd.conf file so that server listens to the ipaddress also.

here is the snapshot of services running
and installed

[root@tmindia init.d]# /etc/init.d/mysqld status
mysqld (pid 16463) is running...

HTTPD displaying blank page

It sounds like the DocumentRoot directory for your web pages is wrong in the httpd.conf file. Make sure it is something like:
DocumentRoot "/var/www/html"

Also, if you are set for Listen 80 , then it should be listening on all network interfaces, including localhost.

Your virtual host configuration seems to be faulty. Web server does not know what page to display when you browse with http://localhost.
Also see if your server is configured as name based or ip based.
