An Acer Aspire One with Linux Linpus will not connect to wifi

I haven't had a problem with this yet, but today I was online via my wifi connection and then the network center said there was no connection. My modem said I had full bars, and I tried restarting both the modem and the laptop, but nothing. The internet works if I plug in the ethernet cable, but will not pick up the wifi signal. I called my service provider and for 2 hours they couldn't figure out how to connect it because it has Linux. They tried to set up a new password protected network because they said the modem was working fine, so they had me delete the old network from the computer... but when I tried to set up a new network it still was not picking up a wireless signal. Ive tried flicking the switch on the front of the laptop and it still will not pick up a signal. Please help me out with this... I have no clue how to use Linux!

First, get rid of Linpus, it's worthless compared to the good major distros. Get Ubuntu or Linux Mint instead.

Just go to the Ubuntu or Mint website, download the discs image, burn it (as an image, ***NOT*** a data disc), and install.

I went to download Linux Mint, but there were several options and I really don't know all the terminology so I can't figure out which to download. Is there anyway you can post me a specific link?

Since I am guessing you have a Acer Aspire One ZG5 with a SSD drive.

then use a 1 gig or larger pendrive (not a SD card) because I am guessing
you have a Acer Aspire One ZG5 which only boots from pendrive when changing boot order in bios .

Install peppermint to pendrive using
http://unetbootin.sourceforge.net/

As the netbook is booting, press the F2 key for the BIOS setup. You’ll see the prompt on screen as the netbook boots. Go to the Boot menu, select your USB drive and use the F5 key to move it up to position 1. Press F12 to save this set-up and exit.

Well I think I can do that, but I screwed up (maybe) and started downloading mint on the computer and it got about 50% downloaded and said there was no more space and stopped downloaded... What do I do now? How can I get that of my computer? So I can do it based on these directions.

Still guessing because you haven't answered what computer specs are.

Download the Iso to a external flash drive if no room on internal drive. This means you will need 2 flash drives. One for storage. One for Unetbootin.

Guess you mean off my computer. Just go to download folder and find Iso and delete it.
