I am fairly new to Linux, but have been using AmaroK under SuSE 9.3 for over a year. Recently, I got a new system and decided to install SuSE 10.0 from scratch. With it came a newer version of AmaroK (which has really added some great new features), however when I attempt to play a playlist it stops between each song. I never experienced this problem with the older version, but I suspect it may have something to do with SuSE 10.0. I did see this question posted by someone else on the web, but as it was a private forum I was not able to see if they received a fix or not. Has anyone else seen this problem and know a fix for it?
Well, I went to the Amarok site and downloaded the new version, but every time I tried to install one of the modules, there was ANOTHER dependency! The last seemed to require a while new version of KDE itself (kdelib3). Can this be true?
I'm embarassed to ask these questions, but how do you add a new repository? Is this why none of my software ever seems to get upgraded? they only notifications I get thru the online update are security patches..
OK, Open Yast> Software> Change Installation Source You will see that your CD set is already in the list. Click "add" to add another source. Select "http" Server Name= ftp.gwdg.de Directory on Server= pub/linux/suse/ftp.suse.com/suse/i386/supplementary/KDE/update_for_10.0/yast-source
Assuming of course your arch is i386. Set this source to update itself automatically and save it. Now you should have 2 sources in your list, this one and your CD set. If Yast is still open select Install Software and search "KDE". Everything kde will show up on the list (should include Amarok) right click on one of the installed componets and select "all in this list" then select "update if newer version available". Just about everything in that list will have an update icon beside it now. All your dependancies should be ok. You should be good to go. This will update KDE to ver. 3.5.x and Amarok to ver 1.3.7 Good luck. Ihope this does it for you.
Man, I want to thank both of you for responding, and responding so quickly to my question. I wish I had understood about the software repositories before this. I have been doing individual tarball upgrades because I could get no other way to work. I got AmaroK 1.3.8 up and working along with a lot of other software. Thank you guys for taking the time to answer!
