about the broadband lan connection

i am having trouble connecting to the broadband connection which needs to dial the username and password but as i am very new in the linux how can i connect to the internet

i use ubantu 10.04
is there any application to dial username and password and connect to internet????

Sounds like a pppoe protocol connection. I believe Ubuntu comes with a gui called "network-manager" that provides a nontechincal way for users to configure their network connection.
Have a look in the menus in the panel on your desktop, or even for an "network" icon directly on the panel.

If you are using broadband internet with user and password required, pppoeconf command on Ubuntu will allow you configure all the settings that you need. Run the command as root and enter the information needed.

sudo pppoeconf
