Question [UMPC] Wine to run Windows app on Linux?

Hello

There's a deadware Windows application that I use daily because there's simply no alternative, and I read that it runs OK on Linux through the Wine layer.

I was wondering if someone owns one of those ultra mobile PC's with a QWERTY keyboard like the PsiXpda or Sharp NetWalker PC-Z1, or even eBook readers like the Amazon Kindle, and could tell me if they run Wine with good-enough performance?

Thank you.

Well, the PsiXpda is already running XP. I suppose if you installed Linux on it, it could then run the application through WINE, but performance probably won't be great.

The others certainly have no chance though. The PC-Z1 is not x86 based so WINE won't run on it (and you would be a bit limited in Linux choices as well), and the Kindle is just an eBook, it has no capability of installing a serious OS, much less run WINE. Perhaps you were thinking of the nook, which at least has an LCD and runs Android (though you couldn't run WINE on that either).

Thanks for the feedback. I'll check out the PsiXPDA, and whatever other x86-based handhelds are available out there.
