Matlab simulink problem in fedora 9

Hi,

Hope you can help me with this. I was able to install and run matlab 2008a in fedora 9 with no problems, I open simulink and simulink blocks as well, so everything works fine until I open a simulink sheet. The problem I have is the menus, the letters appear like squares instead of you know the classic, file edit, view, help, so I am not able to do anything at simulink, this does not happen with matlab or the edit page in matlab only in the simulink sheet.

Can anyone help me?

Thanks

With some other applications I've used, such as Mathematica, this usually has something to do with improperly installed/configured or missing fonts. But since I don't have Matlab, I can't say for sure..if I were you, I'd check that the installation really went all right (any logs you could read?) in the first place, and see what (if anything) there is in an error console if it has one (or if it spits errors to stdout, use terminal to start it).

If I'm not mistaken, Matlab is not the cheapest piece of software out there, so if you have bought it legally and have trouble using it, you can always call (or otherwise contact) the support of the place where you bought it, or then MathWorks directly.

Thank you for your answer, actually I always start matlab with terminal maybe the problem I have is that before matlab 2008 I had matlab 7 maybe there is an error in terminal I found no problem but I will look again and try to figure out the problem, but can you tell me how can I uninstall matlab 7 from my pc, thank you

Same here, but no answer

Hi! I have the same problem on SuSe with Matlab 2008a, not only in Simulink, but also in Neural Networks Toolbox (I guess also in others). I suppose it's connected with font, but I can't find out which font does Matlab require. I didn't have Matlab previously installed on system.
Solution, anyone? Thanks!
Zlatko
