Have you a installation DVD/CD or downloaded installation files? Anyway the best guidance to install Matlab is the official installation guide for Unix from Mathworks: it is a truly step by step documentation and should work like a charm! I've installed Matlab on FC5 and FC6, 64-bit and never issued a problem.
Just one thing to take in mind: on the installation media there is a script called "install": following the instructions you have to launch it from the directory where you are going to install Matlab specifying its absolute path. Sometimes this does not work, for some permission problems depending on how the media was automatically mounted: in this case umount the media and mount again in the most simple way:
Code:
mount /dev/cdrom /mnt
substituting /dev/cdrom with the actual device on your system. Feel free to post any other question if you experience some problem.
