Ymessenger not connecting

im using FC3 and when im tring to connect ymeggenger im un able to connect plz help me

the yahoo messenger thats available for linux is pretty outdated.it was originally designed for rh9.

i suggest u use gaim or gyach. gyach supports almost all the features whereas gaim supports just the basic features.

i prefer gaim because i dont really need all the features.

but im using yahoo protocol in gaim and when im trying to connect it is saying ur disconnected.

probably it cud be becoz u r working behind a firewall. disable the firewall and try to access it.

This can happen due to several reasons:

DNS server is not running on a proxy server('service named start' shd fix it)

IPTables might be restricting the port...make sure it is open.
Add the line

-A POSTROUTING -o eth1 -p tcp -m tcp --dport 5050 -j MASQUERADE
in u r /etc/sysconfig/iptables.restart iptables service

Forwarding may not be enabled..
echo "1" > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_forward

im not using fire wall (i disabled it) and still it is not connecting.

which version of gaim r u using. yahoo keeps changing its protocol so the older versions of gaim cannot connect.
