Can you post the output of
Quote:
cat /etc/wvdial.conf
It looks as if you're not finding the modem. It may be looking for ttySx. AFAIK, this needs to see /dev/usb/ttyS0 or the like. How have you that set up?

[Dialer Defaults]
Modem = /dev/ttyS0
Modem Type = USB Modem
Baud = 115200
Phone = #777
Username = myuser
Password = mypasswd
Dial Command = ATDT
Init1 = ATZ
Init2 = AT+CGDCONT=1,"IP","bsnlsouth"

Since this is a USB device you can test to see how Linux is mapping the device.

Remove the USB modem.

Wait a couple of minutes.

Plug the USB modem in.

Open a terminal window and enter the following command.
Code:
dmesg
Linux should create some messages when it sees the modem that will tell you how it maps the real hardware to a virtual device such as ttyS0 or whatever.

Post the results here.

Modem = /dev/ttyS0
/dev/ttyS0 is an rs-232 com port - Com 1.

Try /dev/usb/ttyS0
