Do you get a prompt if you hit CTRL+Alt+F2 ?
If so, it probably is X starting the desktop environment with a non-ideal driver. (Happens sometimes on my Fedora box with an nVidia card.)
okay so is there anyway to make this work ,i thought the wifi cd would come with the right drivers , this is version 4.4 the latest one ! i have an IBM PC with a intel chipset and windows xp and windows 7 both installed .

Yes, there is ALWAYS a way to get it to work. But we need to know more about the system and how wifislax responds to that system in order to find your solution
When the screen goes dark, do you get a login prompt if you hit CTRL+Alt+F2, where we can enter commands?
