Rep:
which isp?
i am new in us sometimes i need to use my lap top on road i tried aol no luck connection fails which isp works some of them need special format while sending user name so which one u use under linux without problem?
i use DSL and it runs through a dsl/cable router which handles log in stuff for me so the linux machine is just configured like its on a network that hands out IPs and such
if your going to need to use it in multiple places, you should look at the big national companies, like attworldnet, they have local dial in numbers in most every city, and you can even connect through an 800 number from places that don't have a local number. it's 10 cents per minute thru the 800 number, so it will get expensive for anything other than quickly checking your email. it's about $17 per month flat if you have a local number.
yes. i used to have their service before i moved to a smaller town without a local dialup number. their site says they only support win/mac, but it works fine. here's the local numbers list http://help.att.net/iw/ci/access_num...atform=OSWIN95
I use MSN (I know please no bashing) I works well lots of local dial up numbers. Don't expect any help from tech support, they will tell you linux is not supported.
