Hi,

net-tools. For future reference have a look at apt-file (for packages not yet installed) and dlocate for packages that are already installed.

Cheers,

Evo2.

Hello,

On Debian based systems:
Code:
dpkg -S /sbin/route
will give you this:
Code:
net-tools: /sbin/route
indicating the command is installed by the net-tools package.

On RPM based systems, you can use yum:
Code:
yum provides "*bin/route"
which will give you:
Code:

Hi Evo2,

That's the one I was missing, apt-file. In addition to my post which only mentions dpkg -S for searching through installed packages apt-file can be used in the following way:
Code:
apt-file update
apt-file search /sbin/route
Kind regards,

Eric
