Webmin install problem- FQDN related

Hi all I have just installed Debian 3.1 'sarge' for the purpose of trying to learn more about Linux. I planned to start with the base install and go from there. I configured the networking using a static IP by editing the inferaces file and I have got name resolution working by adding my ISPs DNS server to the resolv.conf .
I can now ping internet host names and resolve them to IP. My next step was to install webmin but I get an error
Quote:
setting up webmin
miniserv.pem: no such file or directory
hostname: unknown host
When I issue the host command I get
myhostname
When I try hostname --fqdn I get
hostname: unknown host
Which is the same as the error I get when trying to install webmin.
I have set the FQDN in my hosts file
192.168.0.1 myhostname.mydomain.local

I have checked that apache, perl and openssl are installed.
After searching I found reference to this error to do which mentioned the problem might be to do with the SSL not finidng a FQDN

Can someone point me in the right direction please

Thanks in advance from any input

*edit oh btw everything is updated

Ok I got rid of the hostname error by actually setting the hostname with the hostname command. So now I just get the miniserv.pem error. So this has turned into a software post
