i am setting up a server "fedora 3" that is running samba for users to access files while in the local office and trying to setup vsftpd for when clients are on the road.

That said when i try to log onto the server i get this error message

Connected to 10.0.0.200.
500 OOPS: cannot locate user entry:ftpsecureConnection closed by remote host.

this is on the local network so i dont think that its a firewall issue since i have the linux box wide open to the inside. My config file is as follows.

Wild guess: Do the users have write access to /var? Should they?

no they dont i want them to log into there home dir thats where the data they will need is

Do you have a user ftpsecure on your system? I don't think it's dcreated by default in Fedora
