I know this has been asked a lot in the past, but none of the previous solutions have helped.

I just recently installed Mandrake 10.0 on my machine and I have noticed a significant drop in page load times compared to Windows. I am using Mozilla Firefox as my browser and I've tried the "alias net-pf-10 off" option in modules.conf and modprobe.conf, but neither have helped.

I am going through a LinkSys router to access the internet which is a 3mbit/s cable connection which is usually blazing fast.

I'm pretty sure this is a DNS lookup problem, since the page takes forever to resolve, but once it does everything loads very quickly.

Could anyone please help me out with this?

I don't want to have to go back to Windows for something as silly as this.

There is a post in the newbie section that may help you since you have a cable modem. I have dial up with same problem and havent gotten any help yet

I had a similar problem -- turned out to be somehow DNS related. What I did to solve it was to swap the primary and secondary DNS'es in my router (from where I get my DHCP).
