urgent!!need help!firewalling using iptables......

Our firewall is based on Linux, and we created a graphical user interface to go with it. The GUI (Gtk in Glade is used) requires C programming, but our firewall involves command line executions. We were wondering how we could embed these scripts in a C program? And how to create a function for GtkCheckButton given that there are 5 of them, where users can choose more than one? Or maybe a sample code on how to code check buttons?
