Thanks for the input. Any thoughts on how to set the standard linux ping packet size to something small enough for the windows boxes?
Also any thoughts on why the linux box seemed to have been able to ping the winboxes in the past but not now?
or
any thoughts on how to make the winboxes accept larger packet sizes?

(third party firewall has been turned off)

Avast is also free for home, and its better than avg....

AVG was very average, Im not sure how it is now. false positives were high with AVG.

Comodo has a free firewall + antivirus for windows... You can try it.... Its damn good.

For warez, have a test vm setup like he said..

But i neva used warez for the past one year. I find everything that i need for free on filehippo.

Linux boxes have that as default... so can't change that.

Windows boxes accept that... even if firewall is on, you should not have problem normally.
