Ubuntu to XP/Vista

All.

Sorry to ask something that must have been covered or is well known to experienced users.

I have a Ubuntu 9.4 desktop connected by cable to my router, (it browses the internet ok) and also wired to the router is a mini9 running XP. In addition there is a vista laptop wirelesly connected to the router.
I can ping the mini9 from the ubuntu box but not see it or browse it I can however see the vista laptop but again I cant connect/mount it.
The mini9 is also networked successfully (wireless) to a dell desktop running vista.

I have Webmin running and can see apache but not samba so I'm not even convinced it's running.
I'm thinking it's a samb config problem but how do I remedy it?
Is there a gui tool I can use?

Any help most appreciated.

Best Regards aamcle

welll.......

I checked the samba install and I think I fixed it so I now seem to have samba running and I can see the shared folder in the mini9 and the public folder in the vista laptop.

But I cant go the other way and logon to the ubuntu box from a windows machine. I'm asked for a username/password but the only ones set on the ubuntu box are refused, the username/password combination is the same on all the machines.

Best Regards aamcle

aamcle -

Q: Got everything working?

Q: What specific problems did you run into?
How did you resolve them?

TIA .. PSM
