Ubuntu does not recognizes driver-select command

I have Atheros ar8172 lan card in my lap.i downloaded compat-drivers-2013-03-04-u.tar.bz2 and extracted it into compat-drivers-2013-03-04-u.tar.bz2 folder using archive manager. It is present in downloads folder.I used these commands

cd Downloads/compat-drivers-2013-03-04-u/

sudo ./scripts/driver-select alx

The output is

I'm using Ubuntu 12.10 and my laptop is Lenovo G500.Someone please help me in this issue. Thanks in advance.

It looks like you're trying to run the command from the wrong directory. Make sure the file is where you think it is (from what you said I think you want: ls ~/Downloads/compat-drivers-2013-03-04-u/scripts/).

If you can see driver-select then check your pwd and make sure it's /home/<username>/Downloads/compat-drivers-2013-03-04-u
