Syslog and DNS

I know this isnt not an "ideal" setup, but its what I have to deal with for now due to lack of machines.

I have a DNS server that currently handles syslogs for my pix firewall showing everything that is denied or warning level. However, when I change to informational on the firewall, syslog goes nuts with tons of constant messages relating to building an outbound connection to my secondary DNS server (which is hosted by SBC). The messages do not stop. Its as if there is a constant ping of some sort going to that secondary DNS machine. When I change the logs from informational to warning, the messages stop. How can I resolve this problem so that I can send informational logs from my firewall to my DNS server via syslog and not have all these messages show up? Thanks..

Comes off to me as getting stuck in a syslog type loop.. can you provide snippets of your syslog when enabled. More details of your hardware/software setup might be helpful as well.

Have you taken a look at the "-x" command line option for syslogd? See: man syslogd
