status error = 1 (pppd)


Guys,

I have the following hardware and software:

Debian 3.0r1 Distro
Window Maker interface
Kernell 2.4 with ext3 file system
Kppp to connect
And the 56k trendnet external modem

But when i try to connect in the internet, he make the dial, handshake but in the end, appears the message:
Exit status = 1.
pppd daemon died unexpectedly

anyone can help me?

Probably the username and/or password is wrong
Check if the connection speed, flow control are all correct.
Also make sure if your modem needs any special initialising command to make it work properly. You can check it from their website. Add any initialising command through the kpp modem configuration dialog.
