Recently when I started my dial up script ifup ppp0 the program returned exit status 1. I refered to pppd's man page and it told me that it was a fatal error. can any one help me aliviate this problem?

Thank you

ppp0 is usually your dialup interface. You can't ifup it? Are you trying to dial out with your modem, or get your ethernet connection going?

well ifup do work with pppd , however try kppp (KDE) utility for net connectivity. However if you are still wana connect through CLI mode then there is another utility for that "wvdial" .
first of all you have to create configuration file for wvdial to work

1) man wvdialconf--------------------
2) man wvdial
