static ip

I am running Mandrake 10.1 I have a wireless card that has been set up and working in Mandrake. I recently have changed the router to give all the computers on my network (3) static ips.

I booted into Mandrake and couldn't connect. I believe it because I haven't changed my computer over to a static ip.

I went into the Mandrake control center and modified my connection for static and put my ip address in. That didn't work.

Is their anything special I need to do to change my computer from dhcp to static ip. I'm sure I can go into the router and change it back and make it work but I would like to have it set up correctly.

Any Ideas ?????????

Thanks

Try this (as root):
Code:
ifconfig eth0 xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
Where xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx is your IP address (ie: 192.168.0.250)
You may need to specify the netmask, etc.
Code:
man ifconfig
for more details on that.
Also, you can edit the /etc/inet1.conf (on my system) file, to premanently store this information.
