smlink modem driver compile problem

Hi. I have an smlink modem in a Toshiba A10-S100 laptop. I downloaded the linux driver from smlink.com and attempted to compile it. I am running ubuntu 5.10 (breezy badger) I have tried with gcc-3.3, 3.4, and 4.0. My kernel headers are installed.

What else do I need to do?
