Small size hardware for linux router?

Hello!
I'd like to know if anybody knows if is there a any small hardware board (I think non i386 architecture, maybe mips or arm) board suitable for using for linux routing systems (routing features + iptables).
For example an small board with at least two ethernet interfaces capable to run an update version of Linux.

May be something similar to microtik routerboards, but to run Linux within.

Thanks! Regards,
Matías

Have you looked at http://openwrt.org/ It is a "OpenWrt is described as a Linux distribution for embedded devices."

There is a list of supported devices there as well.

Sounds like this might fit your needs.

The GuruPlug from Marvell has a version with two Gb eth. ports, and it runs Linux.

You could also use one of these http://www.korenix.com/jetbox-indust...-overview.html although it would certainly be cheaper to use an old router with ddwrt or something along those lines. Linksys also makes linux embedded devices like the WRT160NL which you can get right of the shelf.

You could also consider running a virtual machine within the current system. Route all traffic to the virtual machine.

also looking now

resurrecting thread...,

I also am looking for a router, I would LOVE to dump x86. It is full of legacy cruft and eats power. But openwrt is not simple, regular Linux experience is not going to do it.

be prepared to build kernels (unless you use very common mature hardware), push images with tftp/dhcp all with outdated documentation. Its a great system, just not anything like your normal average Linux experience.

this is nothing like dd-wrt kind of simple flashing experience. UNLESS you use a very common supported mature router. any DIY's like mikrotik will be a serious experience.
