Slackware wants to autoload an incorrect driver

Every time I boot into Slackware 9, I get an insmod error when it tries to load an incorrect network card driver. How can I stop the kernel from trying to load the 8139cp driver? My network works perfectly, so the driver I do need is getting loaded properly. I just want to get rid of the annoying error that is output at boot time. Thanks!

I think Slack uses the file /etc/rc.d/rc.modules to load modules.

Try grep 8139cp /etc/rc.d/rc.modules to see if it is in there, and if so then comment the line with the module on it.

I guess it's really the 8139too module that's loading but either way add the line

8139cp

to

/etc/hotplug/blacklist
