sharing folders or files

I want share folder to see another person used windows, but when I click to the folder which I want to share it ,
right click on it and choose proberties and choose local net sharing, give me a write message say " Error running 'filesharelist'. Check if installed and in $PATH or /usr/sbin.

when I go to that file I didn't find it in /usr/sbin. I want know how can I make it. and what is the problem.

thanking you,

I don't use windoze but I can give you some info to know what to look for. You need Samba to share files with windoze, from what I have read. That will likely get you off to a start. There may be a how to here in the forums as well.

I would search for samba in the networking section and I bet you will find several ways to share those files. You may also want to update your profile to show your distro, user cp link at the top right. That helps the people that read the thread. If they use the same distro, they jump right in and help, usually with step by step instructions.

Welcome to LQ.

I have never used Samba so I have no real clue. It sounds like there is something not installed. I did find a how to though. It may help.

http://tldp.org is a great site for how to. It has most of the documentation for Linux that is generally not specific to a distro. Generally people can find their way but the forums are always here for more specific info.

Wish I could help more. No windoze here, just Linux and a OpenBSD rig, which will be my router if DSL ever gets here.
