Sharing folders not in your home

I have a storage drive mounted at /storage/ and I don't really want to move it to my home directory. Linux decides however that I cannot share this drive over my network, how can I tell it to shut up and just do it? I'd love to get this to work. If it's on the forum already, I appologize, I read many of the posts i found in searches but didn't find anything for this. Thanks for any help.

You can change the permission of this directory as all read/execute and then try sharing it. The command is 'chmod 555 dirname'.

I have permissions set to 555 already. Thanks though. It may just by a mandrake gui or kde restriction (I really don't know) is there a bash command to share a folder across samba perhaps?
