I'm a complete newbie trying to set up a internet/print server with a firewall. I run a Slackware 9.2 as the hopeful server, and two Win2k machines (one partitioned NTFS and the other FAT32). I have little or no idea of where to start....can I get any help?
I'm surprised to see that this string is still up, but I'm glad to see it.
Using Slack 9.1, iptables, and isc-dhcpd I'm trying to set up my server still, but so far I've done a great job of botching it. Everyone needs to be good at something.
My wannabe server is a P2 machine, with 256 Mb Ram, two identical Winbond nic cards, and a 16mb video card.
My setup is this:
Dialup Router
|
Slackware 9.1
|
hub
| | |
Win2k clients.
ifconfig -a shows eth0, eth1, and lo, but ifconfig just shoes the eth0 (internet) and lo.
Well, whenever I try the command 'dhcpd eth1', I get 'eth1: not found"
On top of it, I'm using ipkunfu as my firewall, and it doesnt seem to be doing anything as my client machines cant pick up anything off of the server.
not too long ago, I was trying to add god-only-knows what rule to iptables, when an error popped up,
'SIOADDCRT; no such device'. I havent been able to see the error for a while, but its popped up a few times. Could this be affecting it? Any help? thanks a ton.
