Setting up a basic email server

I was given the task to configure our own email server(ubuntu/debian box), we have our own domain setup via DNS, had qmail setup ... what next?

I wanted to be able to add an account like myname@ourcompany.net , I could'nt figure out how to do just that and also where can I be able to check it's email...

Do you already have qmail setup? or dou you want to configure an internal mail server from the scratch?

I've already setup qmail from scratch by following directions from http://www.lifewithqmail.org/ . All seems well but I dunno what to do next and how to create/test new email accounts ...
