Server not responding - apache level?

Yesterday and today I had Firefox come up with "Server not responding" or "taking too long to respond" - can't remember exactly - for one website on the server for about a period of 1 minute, while the other two websites on that server (on different ips) were responding fine. So it would appear to be a problem at the level of apache.

I looked at the logs and they don't show anything interesting (except maybe that someone else was accessing the website at the same time - but no unusal activity).

What could be causing such a problem? And what could I do next time this occurs to better identify the problem/cause.

Thank you.
