Is there something in particular you are trying to change in your sendmail setup that you are running m4? For most changes you can just edit the .cf manually.
i dont know that much about it.. im trying to set up a mail server for my network.. but i cant connect to it from my clients..
and i read somewhere that i should comment out a line in the sendmail.mc and run the m4 command.. my sendmail.cf is blank!!

If you installed via rpm you should have an /etc/sendmail.cf. The file that controls who can relay is /etc/mail/access. Also by default starting in (i think) RH 7.3 sendmail only listens on localhost - look for the DaemonPortOptions option in the cf file.
i didnt install via rpm... but chose it while installing the OS ... i think i might try to re-install the rpm package.. and see what happens... this is to weird.. and takes to long...
ill be back when i have tried it again!!
btw... is there any other mail serv i should rather use??? have heard a lot of bad things about sendmail recently..
