Samba - smbclient issues

I am running Fedora 12 in a mixed network comprising the Fedora box, a Windows 2008R2 server and two Windows 7 notebooks. All boxes are using 64-bit environments.

The Fedora box connects easily with both the Windows 2008R2 box and one of the Windows 7 notebooks (smbclient works effortlessly and I am able to run BackupPC to back both Windows boxes up). However, the other Windows 7 notebook refuses to connect.

when I run smbclient I get the following response:-
smbclient -L \\\\pc\\sharename -U pc\\username
Enter pc\username's password:
session setup failed: SUCCESS - 0

Why is this happening? How do I correct it? It is obviously something on the Windows PC that is stopping the connection.

This may or may not be the case. I have mounted the share and can browse directorys and files therein. But smbclient cannot connect. I am puzzled.

I am puzzled no more. http://www.brucesbrain.com/posts/smb...ndows-7-fails/ has the suggestion that fixed my problem.

Surely, Micro$oft should have tested this "Windows Live Assistant" before releasing it into the wild. On second thoughts, that activity is well beyond their tiny (cash register) brains.

Nice to see we get a whole diagnostic from the "MAN".

This is why I am here not there.
People have to come across solutions with windows, where-as we can actualy work things out.
