Dear all,
I am wondering if you can help.
I am just setting up a SAMBA server on my Fedora box. The problem I am having is this. I have set security to USER and guest account to public. Map to guest is set to BAD USER. I was hoping that this meant the HOMES share would automatically enter the public direct ory (/home/public in this case) so as I didn't need to create a public share. I tried /home/%u to no avail.
Is what I am wanting possible? (IE When user X (Who doesn't have an account on my box) logs in the homes share enters them to /home/public) If it is not possible, is there a way to make the homes share invisible to invalid memebers (IE those mapped to guest account)?
My smb.conf file is below
Code:
# Global parameters
[global]
workgroup = DOMAIN
server string = Katana Fedora Server
update encrypted = Yes
map to guest = Bad User
guest account = public
password level = 9
username level = 9
ldap ssl = no
[homes]
#path = /home/%u #does this help?
read only = No
guest ok = Yes
#[public]
# comment = Katana's public
# path = /home/public
# read only = No
# guest ok = Yes
If this has already been asked, I apologise, but a search of the boards didn't seem to reveal my exact problem.
I thank you in advance.
