Samba Corruption Confusing (EMERGENCY)
I have had a samba server, server my windows clients a QuickBooks file for about 3 months now. All of a sudden the file started becoming corrupt, and the windows machines started saying that the connection to the "specified computer" was lost. Here are some log entries:
[DATE] lib/util_sock.c:recieve_smb(667)
Invalid packet Length!(130899 bytes)
[DATE] smbd/dir.c:dptr_close(280)
Invalid key 256 given to dptr_close
These entries show when the connection is lost. Another thing that seems to happen is, when I can successfully copy a file over, and then I go to verify the data via quickbooks, it says that the data has been corrupted. Now, if I leave the file on a windows system, this basically doesn't happen.
I had read somewhere about disabling oplocks (maybe somebody could clarify what oplocks are), and it didn't do a thing to disable them. Anyother options? I don't think it is packet loss, cause it doesn't happen when the file resides on a windows system and is accessed via the network. We have been tryig to get back up and running, and we have already lost a weeks work, and a weeks worth of data, so any help is greatly appreciated!!
TIA
Mike.
