samba 3, Problems configuring

I am trying to configure samba 3 on a pc running mandrake 10
I enable file sharing area, then choose a destination folder thats fine but then the following page asks for a read list and write list.
The read list is exampled as " root, fred, @users, @wheel "
and the write list is " @wheel "
I just dont understand what i am to input at this point.
Please somebody help as its getting a little frustrating.

it is looking for users (fred) or groups (@wheel) for read/write capabilities. ie: who do you want to be able to see the contents of the folder, and who do you want to be able to write to the folder.

do a google search for Samba How-To...

I understand the principle, but what ever i type in i.e.
root, nick,
it wont recognize my input.
What should i be typing in?

do you have rights to write the file? is this perhaps a GUI problem?

you need to be more explicit.
