Question RSYNCing servers

Hi all. I have 2 servers (Main and Backup), each with 2 NICs installed... eth0 in "Main" is connected to the network and eth1 of "Main" is connected to eth1 of "Backup". eth0 of "Backup is not connected to anything.

The machines are identical in every way except the IP settings for eth1 which will be used for rsync every night. The plan is... if "Main" dies I can just move the network cable from eth0 on "Main" to eth0 on "Backup" for a seamless replacement.

I want to rsync _everything_ except the uniqueness of eth1. I've set eth1's configuration using a line in rc.local so I would exclude rc.local from the rsync... but is there anything esle I should exclude ?

TIA

Mike

To be honest I'd probably only replicate data so that software upgrades can be tested on the non live server. You probably want to keep log files seperate too so that you can troubleshoot any problems and monitor system access easier.
