Ok I located /etc/rc.d/rc.inet1 It seem's to do the job of the eth0 down. Well it didn't complain anyway, even if eth0 was allready down.

I'm at work, and don't have the eth card in (playing with a wi-fi card today) I uncommented #noauth in both option's, and options.demand. I'll check that out later at home, and post the result's.

Thank's again to both of you for your help. Have one on me.

well I guess there is a bug somewhere. "defaultroute" I have uncommented in ppp option's.

Oh well, shutting down eth0 prior to connecting with ppp isn't the end of the world.

What the ppp scripting should do is replace the default gw from eth0 with the ppp gateway..
I suspect something is amiss in the Slackware scripts or there's an undocumented but well known fix..

How about making a new post in the Slackware Forum showing first the eth0 setup then the setup after starting ppp0 with eth0 running..
See if anyone has seen it before..
