RHEL 5 nfs mount hangs on RHEL 3

I still have a few RHEL 3 running. Whenever I try to nfs mount a filesystem from RHEL 5 server, the mount command just hangs there forever. No error, no warning, nothing is mounted. I have tried with iptables off/on. SElinux on/off. No difference. The same RHEL 5 nfs mount works fine on AIX, Solaris.

To me it seems like the RHEL 3 nfs doesn't understand what's running on RHEL5. Is it just a nfs version difference? or what? Can any body help me out on this?

Any help is appreciated!!!

I have to admit I'm fairly ignorant of NFS - or rather have gotten fed up with NFS and have abandoned it. But I have had issues in the past between newer and older NFS versions. Would recommend checking the logs on the RHEL3 boxes to determine if there is any indication of it not understanding the NFS requests coming from the RHEL5 box(es). Also perhaps check if you can't upgrade the RHEL3 NFS servers to ensure they're using the same NFS protocol version as the RHEL5 systems.
