Redhat and Cisco VLANs

Ive configured my kernel to allow 802.1q tagged vlans on my ethernet interfaces. Ive created two vlans; eth2.26 and eth2.27. I have two Redhat machines, each connecting to a Cisco 2950 switch. The two switches have a trunk between them. Do i need to customise the vlan config on the 2950s to work with Linux? things like vtp mode transparent and spanning-tree mode pvst?

an end system running linux will have nothing to do with spanning tree nor vtp. spanning tree is only for switches and vtp is a private cisco management protocol which won't affect the vlans directly at all.
