Problem with my internet conection
hi you all...
i upgrade to kernel 2.6.7 (slackware 10.0) and install the sis900 driver suppot as "y" (not as module), then i set up "netconfig" and put the info correctly (static ip, hostname, gateway, netmask, etc..) i do "ifconfig" and i can see "eth0" with all this parameter set. the problem is when i "ping" my gateway or any othe host the system says: "no response" "100% packet loss", i need help with this, im a newbe on slackware but i learn fast, i appreciate any kind of help.
P.D.: people on irc told me to put "dhcp" on netconfig then "dhcpdc eth0".. i did that and i didnt work the prompt stays hanged untill i do ctrl+c to get back to him..

Well, I'm not entirely sure what to tell you.
Firstly, it's dhcpcd eth0 - not dhcpdc
Secondly, you stated above that you are using a static IP? If so, then that's no good for you anyhow.
Please post your ifconfig, your /etc/resolv.conf, and the output of netstat -rn

Hi,,,,
u didn't mention t distro u r using...
I understood ur problem. Its not with ur configuration ..its with the kernel.
Do this ....
Pass pci=noacpi while u r booting ..
I mean edit the grub arguments like
title Fedora Core (2.6.11-1.1369_FC4)
root (hd0,4)
kernel /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.11-1.1369_FC4 ro root=LABEL=/ rhgb quiet pci=noacpi
initrd /boot/initrd-2.6.11-1.1369_FC4.img
If it works,,,edit the grub.conf
