Problem with Cisco vpnclient and RHEL 4.0

Hello,

Until very recently I have been using Cisco vpnclient 4.02a running on RHEL 3.0 to connect to my work network from home. Recently I ditched RHEL 3.0 for RHEL 4.0. Since the Cisco 4.02 client didn't support the new kernel I upgraded to vpnclient ver 4.0.5 (Rel).

When I run 4.0.5 things seem okay and I am able to connect/authenticte but then I am unable to access any machines on the network at work or even access the internet. I suspect that the problem is with DNS/DHCP but I'm not sure. If I look at the DNS settings after connecting through the vpnclient, the DNS servers listed are the ones issued by my home IP, ie, they havn't changed. Shouldn't my office DHCP server have issued the addresses of it's DNS servers? Or am I confused? If it matters, from home I'm sitting behind a router which is connected to the internet via a cable modem. If anyone could straighten me out I'd really appreciate it!

I have the same symptoms. Suse 10.0, I start the service OK, I connect with name and password.
I can ping a few work machines (as I know a few numbers), but can't get any further.

Did you ever get it solved??

I solved the problem by upgrading to 4.6.02. I don't think that there is any other solution other than to upgrade. Good luck.
