Cisco VPNClient on Mandrake 9.0

Hello

I am trying to get the Cisco VPNClient version 3.7 to work on Mandrake 9.0. This is my first venture into Linux, so please excuse me if this is exceedingly simple.

I think I got the software to compile and install OK, but when I try to start it, I get the following response:

---------------------------------------------------

Starting /usr/local/bin/vpnclient: /lib/modules/2.4.19-16mdk/CiscoVPN/cisco_ipsec: unresolved symbol __kfree_skb_R65479740
/lib/modules/2.4.19-16mdk/CiscoVPN/cisco_ipsec: unresolved symbol dev_remove_pack_R139fb7ad

/lib/modules/2.4.19-16mdk/CiscoVPN/cisco_ipsec: unresolved symbol dev_add_pack_Rb44b3b10
/lib/modules/2.4.19-16mdk/CiscoVPN/cisco_ipsec:
Hint: You are trying to load a module without a GPL compatible license
and it has unresolved symbols. Contact the module supplier for
assistance, only they can help you.

Failed (insmod)

---------------------------------------------------

I have absolutely no idea what any of this means. The only possibility I can think of is that because I had to run "make xconfig" to get a copy of autoconf.h, I have built that incorrectly.

Does anyone have any suggestions for what I should do next. Do I need to contact Cisco, or is the problem more basic than that?

Thanks.

William

I discovered the reason this would not work was that I had the wrong kernel source installed. When I removed the wrong stuff and installed the right stuff it worked.

I might even have learned something while investigating this!

Question So What Did You Do To Solve The problem

I have the exact same problem, but, you never mentioned what you did. Can you give us the procedure you used to solve it?

Thanks,
Dean

Reinstall the source

Dean

I re-installed the kernel source from the Mandrake CD.

Previously I had installed it from kernel.org. Once user the version which came on the Mandrake CDs, everything was OK. I think I may have had to re-compile after I had installed the correct version of the source.
