problem getting network adapter recognised
Hi,
i am a newbie to linux but i thought this post had better go in the networking forum.
the other night i tried to install mandrake 10.0 and suse 9.1 on my newly built desktop. both these os's work fine on my laptop (as do xandros and fedora) but i have a gigabit ethernet card on the new machine and linux can not see it.
the card is a Via networking velocity family giga-bit ethernet adapter on an Abit AV8-3RD Eye Skt 939 K8t800pro mobo.
i am guessing that the iso's i downloaded maybe a year ago are too old to support this lan. and so i have to get drivers for it. but i have absolutely no clue where to find them.
could anybody please help me with this. i remember searching for ieee1394 drivers for linux about 6 months ago and i just could not find them.
thanks all
(edit) i've just noticed that version mandrake 10.1 is available . about to startthe download, but will this fix the problem????
