Print Server Slow

I am using my Linux Host as a print server with Samba and CUPS but the response time is very slow compared to a printer connected directly to the network. IS there a way to speed it up?

Hi Echo Kilo:

Is your Linux host just a print server? If not, what else does it do?

Are you using hubs or switches on your network?

The more information you can supply about your setup the better someone will be able to help you.

It's just a file and print server with only one client.

All computers on my small network are behind a netgear router.
