Hi!
I have a Packard Bell laptop which used to be working great guns on Mdk 10. My internet was through ppp dialup and worked fine (SL modem). Yesterday I took the laptop to my library and connected on to the LAN for internet. Had to resetup lan on drakconf. But worked well. But
1. Even though I was plugged in on network restart it would say starting eth0 failed. But the internet worked well. (Sis 900 10/1000).
2. After going back home when I connected to ppp dialup ppp would start but no websites load (?DNS problem). Could not ping anything. Shutdown all the firewalls but no avail
3. When I went back into Mdk Control Center the internet connection still had the DNS server numbers from the previous LAN (automatic DNS on ppp)
4. I had pump, dhcpd and dhcpxd all three installed but then I uninstalled dhcp client and dhcp common. Still have pump and dhcpxd on the system. Is it bad to have multiple dns programs
Thanks in advance for sorting me out.
In Mdk 10, ie my system, the /etc/resolv.conf is also there apparently the entries made on it by dhcp whatever were not erased.
Should I make eth0 permissible for all users and use netplug instead when I go to the hospital.
