Greetingz!

Let me make sure I understand this correctly;

Host OS: Windows XP (That'd be the OS that's actually installed in the hardware)
Guest OS: CentOS 6 (The OS installed in VirtualBox)
Problem: CentOS can't connect to the internet.

For starters, I'd make sure your basics like DNS work.
1) Try "nslookup google.com" from inside CentOS.
2) Can you ping your gateway IP from inside CentOS?
(if you don't know what that is, check the output of 'ipconfig /all' from Windows XP)

If you can do both of those things, then I'd check (and temporarily turn off) your Windows firewall (or whatever "Security" software you're running on it), then try steps #1 and #2 again.

Issue is I am connected to VPN on host pc(win xp) and yum needs access to internet to install packages.
On Guest PC(CENTOS) i can access internet if I set it to proxy within web browser so there must be some capability within command line to access internet.

Host and Guest are connected via NAT connection.

I tried several ways but it is not working well i dont know.

few combinations that I remember is setting http_proxy variable, configuring /etc/yum.conf with the same, checking the files end in .repo, uncommenting baseurl but nothing works and I hold total faith that there must be some way!

Any ideas?

Cool

export http_prxoy=http://IP:PORT/

does the trick.

IP:PORT is nothing but your proxy url.

This would allow you to get connected to internet and perform installation of packages even you are connected to VPN on host pc!!
